After celebrating V-day coupledom at Musashi, it was time for round 2 of dessert despite our expanded stomachs! Perhaps a 10 minute walk in the rain to Cockle Bay Wharf would solve that problem?
When it comes to chocolate and general sweet stuff, Lindt Chocolat Café is Sydney’s primo destination. Plus I’d been making everybody else’s ears bleed with my constant moaning for their Ice Milk Chocolate!
At Lindt you have to order and pay at the counter so my suggestion is to grab a seat before you do. Judging from the amount of people clutching their table numbers and looking for a seat, it appears some still don’t fathom the idea of securing a table before ordering – despite a sign at the counter advising you to do so!
We couldn’t decide between all the cakes, delices and ice creams so we ordered the next best thing - the Chocolate Degustation Plate for two ($35). We also took advantage of Lindt’s Valentine Special of 10 free Lindt balls with every order over $30 although I had to remind them and ask for it.
The Degustation plate has a milk or dark chocolate option, which determined the flavours of the ice cream, melted chocolate sauce, truffles, delices and the slabs of chocolate and nuts. And because we were crazy, we also ordered a large Ice Mocha and my Ice Milk Chocolate ($7 each).

First thing that drew my attention was the bowl of two scoops of dark chocolate Lindt ice cream, which in texture and flavour, was perfect in every way. For food porn's sake, Mr S. proceeded to douse the entire thing in dark chocolate sauce, which sent my sugar levels through the roof!
The cake on the platter was the St Moritz - layers of dark, milk and white chocolate mousse separated by thin layers of almond cake. The cake is topped with tiles of Lindt dark chocolate and dusted with cocoa powder. Unfortunately I didn’t appreciate the St. Moritz as much as I should, as the soft, warm texture of the mousses along with the sweet almond cake layers nearly tipped me over the edge.
We couldn’t even look at the rest of the plate but couldn't bring ourselves to abandon such delectable treats so we requested a box so we could give them a good home.
By the way my secret obsession with stationery and packaging just adored the Lindt boxes, wrapping tissue paper and carry bag! The thought of buying a few extra goodies to take home just to acquire more Lindt boxes didn’t escape me! But I digress…
Chocolate was practically oozing out of my every pore. Unless you’re sadistic or highly sugar deprived, this plate will tame the most fervent of chocolate lovers. I wished I could've tempered the chocolate assault by substituting the chocolate delices for passionfruit and hazelnut and opting for vanilla ice cream instead?
But alas, no option is given to select your own flavours to quell the impending chocolate orgy. We were beaten down…defeated…by Lindt.
We stumbled back to our car feeling a little sick from our chocolate-induced stupor. Even swallowing a teaspoon of salt was a nice afterthought. I guess there is such a thing as being sweet enough. But we're not ones to concede to a dessert plate...oh yes...we will be back.
Oh and fyi, the 70% dark chocolate delices (straight out of the fridge) were just fabulous.

10 Coffee Breaks:
*groan* i'm a "single square of dark chocolate and then no more please" kinda girl so would have been ab-so-lutely comatose if I'd tried to eat all of that :)
(hooray for the wrapping though! things are always so much more special when they come wrapped in printed tissue)
Hahah gj on having 2nd dessert ^^! Mmm I must go back to Lindt haven't been in a while now
Your chocolate degustation looks amazing! I remember trying lint cafe back in 2007 on a trip up north, your post has reminded me that I need to catch a plane and make a special trip
Funny that Maria is wishing for Lindt in Melbourne while I'm wishing for Koko Black in Sydney! We need both. The more chocolate cafes the merrier :)
Ah great idea to go to Lindt for Valentines Day. Everything looks so good. I love macarons straight out of the fridge as the buttercream is firmer. And yes I thoroughly agree, the Lindt wrapping, boxes and bags are excellent indeed. Another paper/stationary nut here :)
A friend and I shared the chocolate degustation at lindt for dinner once. I felt a little ill afterwards, but it was soooo worth it! I love the Lindt ice cream too, absolutely delicious.
What a treat and how delicious everything looks! Thank you for sharing!!
*stamps foot* why can't we be lucky enough to have a Lindt Cafe here?! That plate is devilish :)
A chocoholics haven...excuse me while I go wipe my mouth! LOL
Hi shez - I agree! In my old age I can't seem to hadle the chocolate the way I use to lol!

Hi Arwen - I like your thinking! And yes Koko Black would be wonderful! Did you know there's one in Canberra?
Hi Lorraine - lol exactly...why buy a box of chocolates when you can have the whole store!
Hi Lisa - Worth it? lol I don't think I felt that way after I got sick from my plate!
